To Floyd

I saw a glimpse of love, once

Enchanting, kind and sweet

It enveloped me and held me captive

It really does sweep you off your feet

I felt a sense of warm belonging

That humankind does not know

Before this is tasted

A wholeness. A togetherness.

A hopefulness. Completeness

The warm sun bronzed my skin

As his eyes, blue, snared my heart

His smile breathed my soul in and I couldn’t break away from the moment

I remember how we thought alike and laughed the moon back to bed

We had perfect harmony, he and I

I thought it might all be in my head

But I remember his touch late at night

And the twinkling of his eyes.

And I know he felt it too.

Time and circumstance takes away

And I look back with a wistful eye

If not for her, it still would be you and I.
