What is Most Important

I watch you with your wondering eyes.

You watch me as I move around the room.

You yearn for my stillness next to you and my eyes upon your face

Your face to my face.

I hear your heart cry for mine and I am torn.

So much to do. You need so much, I must get it all done.

I rush around for you, but you are lost in the middle and you learn to play

Alone.

I stop. I look. I listen.

What I hear is the familiar sound…a mourn.

I can’t continue. I cannot stay busy. I cannot lose you.

Our seconds are not retractable…those lost and fading

Our days are only now.

I have to lay the work down

I choose you, sweet boy…as you choose me..no contest is the work for you

It, not you, do I leave forlorn.
