I hope you never read this

Complicated is the bond

that forges us together.

Though a generational cord would be the expected norm.

Ours is something tangled up,

but evermore the better.

So always, together, wet and cold, we weather through this storm.

I ache to see you so confused,

I want you to be sure you are loved.

But deep within, we both do know that ours is unresolved.

Small, innocent, little child of mine,

though on pain and horror’s back you came

Know you have no love so secure as mine,

For ever more the same.

That will never change.

And cannot be dissolved.

So rest your heart, rest your head,

let me hold you through this rain.

Our sun is sure to come up

to release us from this pain.

The wretched nights are tedious

No one really knows

How heartbreaking your cries and screams

Still bend upon our souls.

I just want for you to be Okay,

to know so surely you indeed are loved

Developmental delays, fits of rage.

Sudden, unexplained fevers

Speech distorted, swallowing thwarted.

Imbalance, the left foot that sways…

and a trunk that is weakened.

This unfairness is norm for you.

And that is unacceptable.

Especially I want you to understand

That where you came from

is not where you are going.

And you were meant to be here

There is purpose in all of this…

your heart, your body, your soul.
